Equity in Education (EiE) is an Atlanta-based 501c4 nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to building a comprehensive vision of education and community in Atlanta that accounts for every stakeholder and ensures that every child in Atlanta has a champion for equity representing them on the school board.

The Lead Political Organizer will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing political campaigns, community outreach initiatives, and advocacy efforts within the City of Atlanta. This position requires a deep understanding of local political dynamics, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to mobilize diverse stakeholders toward common goals. The Lead Political Organizer will report directly to the Campaign Director and work closely with elected officials, community leaders, and organizational partners to advance strategic objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 35 years of experience in political organizing, campaign management, or community advocacy.
• Deep knowledge of local political dynamics, issues, and stakeholders in the City of Atlanta.
• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively with diverse communities and constituencies.
• Proficiency in voter database systems, CRM software, and digital organizing tools.
• Commitment to social justice, equity, and progressive values.

Responsibilities:
Campaign Strategy and Execution:

• Develop and implement comprehensive campaign strategies in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to execute voter engagement, outreach, and mobilization efforts.
• Analyze political landscape, voter data, and trends to inform campaign strategies and tactics.

Community Engagement:

• Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, grassroots organizations, and advocacy groups.
• Organize and lead community meetings, events, and forums to foster dialogue and promote civic engagement.
• Conduct outreach efforts to diverse communities and constituencies to ensure inclusivity and representation.

Coalition Building:

• Support the Organizing Team in coalition building with local, state, and national partners around key EiE policy priorities.
• Facilitate coalition meetings, coordinate joint actions, and mobilize supporters to advocate for shared priorities.
  Advocacy and Communications:
• Develop and disseminate compelling advocacy materials, including campaign literature, press releases, and social media content.
• Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, effectively communicating positions and messaging to various audiences.
• Engage with media outlets, stakeholders, and the public to promote campaign objectives and amplify key messages.

Event Planning and Logistics:

• Plan and coordinate campaign events, including rallies, town halls, and fundraisers.
• Manage event logistics, including venue selection, staffing, budgeting, and outreach efforts to maximize participation and impact.

This is a contract position ranging at 3,000/month depending on agreed upon scope of work.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in community organizing, with experience driving impactful, ground-level campaigns. We’re looking for someone who is not only passionate about civic engagement but also highly skilled in mobilizing volunteers, building community relationships, and executing voter outreach initiatives. Excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the local political landscape are essential. Experience working in public education and local politics is highly valued.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Minimum of one to 2-3 years of experience in electoral field organizing, community outreach, or political campaigns.
• Demonstrates understanding of voter engagement strategies, grassroots organizing tactics, and coalition building.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with local government structures and political dynamics in the City of Atlanta is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Commitment to social justice, equity, and progressive values.

Responsibilities:
Voter Engagement:

• Implement targeted voter outreach and mobilization campaigns to increase voter registration, turnout, and education among diverse communities in Atlanta.
• Develop and maintain relationships with voters, community leaders, and local organizations to promote electoral participation and awareness.
• Utilize voter data and analytics to identify strategic opportunities for voter engagement and persuasion efforts.

Organizational Partnership Engagement:

• Build and cultivate relationships with community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and stakeholders to strengthen collaborative efforts around electoral campaigns and issues.
• Coordinate joint activities, events, and initiatives with partner organizations to amplify collective impact and reach shared goals.
• Provide support and resources to organizational partners to enhance their capacity for voter engagement and advocacy.

PAC Membership Growth:

• Develop and execute strategies to recruit and retain members for the Political Action Committee (PAC), including outreach campaigns, membership drives, and engagement activities.
• Cultivate relationships with current and prospective PAC members, providing them with opportunities to contribute to political campaigns and initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.

City of Atlanta Local Government Engagement:

• Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and key stakeholders within the City of Atlanta.
• Advocate for policy priorities and legislative initiatives that align with organizational goals, working collaboratively with elected leaders and their staff.
• Monitor local government activities, attend meetings, and provide updates to the Lead Political Organizer on relevant developments and opportunities for engagement.
